The score is a summary of the
information on a consumer's credit file. The range is 300-900. Higher scores
equate to lower risk of default.
There are 50 'most' predictive
characteristics in developing the final scorecard.
Items not considered are age,
address, employment, income or gender.
Key Factors and % of influence
are:
35% Payment History
30% Outstanding debt
in relation to credit available (ie: is your credit card maxed?)
15% Credit history
length (don't close those unused cards)
10% # of credit
inquiries
10% Type of credit mix
(finance companies hurt the score more than a credit card or installment loan)
