Once the temperatures cool, swimming and active living are still readily available. Kelowna’s H2O Adventure and Fitness Centre has 50 and 25 metre pool lanes, high and low diving boards, waterslides, gyms, and a FlowRider for lessons on how to surf. In the same block is the Capital News Centre ice rink with programs and leagues for all ages or casual skating.

Most shopping needs are situated in the northern region of the Lower Mission just south of KLO Rd. Major retailers in the area include Save on Foods and Urban Fare, as well as many diverse restaurants and banks for meals and errands all easily accessible through Lakeshore Rd.

Kids living in the Lower Mission will attend Casorso Elementary on Casorso Road., Dorothea Walker Elementary on Gordon Drive., or Anne McClymont Elementaryon Lakeshore Road. Anne McClymont, named after the inspirational Kelowna teacher of 39 years, teaches over 500 students and provides some of the highest academic and social experiences for early development. For French Immersion students, Casorso and Dorothea Walker Elementary both provide K-6 French Immersion education.

Depending on the location, older kids in the Lower Mission will have options on where they wish to attend school. For French Immersion students, KLO Middle on KLO Road is the only French Immersion school for all grades 7-9 in the district, priding itself on their commitment to student learning and undertaking activities in their CORE block that explores Career Education and Character Strong programs. For high school, students will attend Kelowna Secondary in South Kelowna. This 10-12 French Immersion school gives students some of the best education in the city as the 71st ranked secondary school in the province by the Fraser Institute. The respectful and safe environment allows a vast array of clubs and sports for students finishing their education.
