Real Estate Rutland

Rutland is a densely-packed region that contains many neighbourhoods, parks, schools, and multicultural centres that make it one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in the city. Families can stay within the region for all shopping, school, work, and living needs within its large residential neighbourhoods. Families will find a wide selection of residential options with many condos, townhomes, and smaller affordable housing to high-end million dollar homes throughout the region. Those wishing to find a neighbourhood that is close to work, schools, shopping, and recreational fun will find that Rutland provides all these options and more to each family wanting to call Kelowna home.

Rutland has an overabundance of homes, parks, and sports fields that make it a place where everything needed is only a short drive away. Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy the active parks and fields for summer fun, and can participate in many programs at the YMCA centre with swimming and fitness. Kids will also have close proximity to the middle and high schools, as well as six elementary schools to make travel easy for every child in the region.

Rutland Resources & Recreation

Rutland holds many parks and recreational activities to keep even the most active families busy. Younger kids can enjoy the playgrounds and open space in Harris Park and Rutland Lions Park, as well as the small waterpark, skate park, and sports field in the 7.34 hectare Ben Lee Park. Families can enjoy walking through Chichester Wetland Park, or partake in competitive fun on the baseball and tennis courts in Edith Gay Park. In the cooler months, families can enjoy the YMCA of Okanagan centre with its weights and fitness room, double gymnasium, and 25-metre pool with diving boards, sauna, and hot tub. Families can also enjoy the YMCA’s many aquatic, health and fitness, child care, and Spring Break kids camp programs for year-round activities, as well as skating opportunities at the Rutland Twin Arena next door. In the east end up McCurdy Road East is the Tower Ranch Golf & Country Club, which has been voted as one of the best new courses in Canada according to Travel + Leisure Magazine and Golf Digest due to its elevation changes and steep bunkers along the Tower Ranch hillside.

All shopping needs are right along Highway 33 with easy access to stores such as Save On Foods, Value Village, Rexall, Shoppers Drug Mart, and many more restaurants and stores to enjoy. Only a short drive to the highway’s end leads to Costco with all shopping needs all along the one road with many gas stations and corner stores for quick errands.

Rutland Neighbourhood Schools

Kids living in Rutland’s northern half will attend Pearson Elementary or Rutland Elementary, with Pearson’s smaller student body celebrating its diverse demographic and adoption of a Uniform Policy for its inclusive environment. Rutland Elementary has a rich history in the region with the red brick school being built in 1913 that served students until the current building was completed on Webster Road in 2003. Rutland’s southern region has four elementary schools for easy walks or bike rides for all kids, including a K-6 French Immersion program at Belgo Elementary on Adventure Road.

Older kids throughout the Rutland area will attend Rutland Middle School on Rutland Road with its rich history reaching back to its opening in 1949. The union of all six Rutland elementary schools will create more opportunities for kids to grow friendships and receive new learning experiences.

On the same block, Rutland teenagers will attend Rutland Senior Secondary School, the only Kelowna secondary school that ranges from grades 9-12. RSS welcomes over 1,500 students from across Kelowna’s diverse east side with school and public transit allowing kids outside the area to arrive on time each day. RSS also includes a partnership with BCIT with duel credit programs and an Advanced Placement program for students wanting a lead on their postsecondary education.
